Upcoming Release: Imperative Music Compilation Vol. 20
Is it just me, or does the word "compilation" usually sound like a collection of b-sides nobody wanted? Well, Imperative Music Compilation Vol. 20 is the exception that proves the rule. I’ve been digging through these 18 tracks, and honestly, it’s a relief to hear stuff that hasn't been polished to death by some algorithm.
What caught my ear immediately? Joe La Truite from France with "Light Speed", it’s as weird and frantic as the name suggests. Then you’ve got Mystic Circle bringing that heavy, ritualistic vibe with "Belial Is My Name," which is exactly the kind of darkness you want on a disc like this. Even the Marshall Beck cover of "War Pigs" manages to feel like a punch in the gut rather than just another tired tribute.
It’s a massive global mix: we’re jumping from the grit of Norway’s Relentless Aggression to the sheer chaos of Canada’s Legion of Decadence. Not every track is going to be your cup of tea, but that’s the point. It’s about that "what the hell was that?" moment you only get when you stop scrolling and actually listen.
There’s a heavy heart to this one, too, with a dedication to Silvana from Sancta. It grounds the whole thing: reminds you that this underground scene isn't just about riffs and blast beats; it’s a community that actually feels the loss of its own.
And for the bands out there: they’re already lining up DEICIDE for Vol. 21. If you think your sound can stand next to Glen Benton’s growl, you might want to get your submission in now.
