In a Nutshell
The band, based in Southern Finland, passionately makes diverse prog-adjacent
metal exploring themes of good and evil, truth and deceit, mystery and wonder.
Their fresh and meaningful songs fuse elements of metal, prog and alt rock,
nodding at a wide range of influential sounds from the likes of Pink Floyd, Iron
Maiden, Alice in Chains and Depeche Mode. On the stage, the band is moody,
technically impressive and energetic, with a large catalogue of different tones and
tempos, keeping audiences captivated throughout the set.
Biography:
Founded spontaneously in December 2018, Frozen Factory was four unattached
guys with no real plan. Yet, two studio days later, they had a self-titled 3-track
record that felt like the start of something significant. That demo record caught
the attention of British vocalist Stephen Baker, who after meeting Tomi for tea and
receiving a new demo song, wrote the lyrics for ‘The Truth is So Dead’ the very
same day and recorded it the next.
Stephen and Tomi were immediately in sync, and forged a new deeper sound for
Frozen Factory. Soon, the band’s debut album ‘Planted Feet’, themed around
humanity’s struggles, was ready. In celebration in January 2020, the band
performed their first live show, which lit up Vantaa, Finland’s prestigious Vernissa
venue. The gig was filmed in full and is available to watch on YouTube.
In 2021, the band released ‘The First Liquidation EP’, an unorthodox less-than-30-
minute 8-track EP. Literally lifting off where ‘Planted Feet’ ended, it shifts the band
into even more emotional themes – while providing a bridge to their second full-
length album ‘Of Pearls & Perils’, which released in 2022. With 12 dramatic tracks
further exploring the state of the world, ‘Of Pearls & Perils’ earned rave reviews
and high-profile radio play, such as on Germany’s SWR1.
Throughout 2023 and 2024, Frozen Factory released singles, first a series of
standalone singles and then a few from their upcoming new album ‘Apocalypse
INC.’, including one featuring Silentium singer Riina Rinkinen. With 14 tracks in
total, the new album still has 10 unreleased gems and is a powerful new chapter
for the band, that’s dying to be published.
